Although applying for a grant can be overwhelming, here are some tips to help turn an impossible event to a “possible” event.
-Ensure you have your 501c3 letter and are registered with the IRS. Often grantors will want your organization actually registered with the IRS before you can begin the application.
-Make sure you have researched the type of projects the grantor funds. You don’t want to apply for a grant to fund your technology needs for education of children and they only fund projects for a animal rights.
-The grantor will always have a mission that they believe in, therefore, their mission should align with your mission in community service.
-Read the directions 3 or 4 times to make sure you do not miss any steps. Missing one step could cost you the grant.
-Make sure you have a website.
-Finally, DO NOT MISS THE DEADLINE!
